The Dude Perfect Guys are Good at Shooting Hoops

This is real right?  I know with technology now you could edit the hell out of a video to make things look real.  Or do these guys just carry cameras and basketballs coming up with ridiculous shots on the fly when they see a hoop, and film their shots until they make one?   Its like those kids doing the trick beer pong shots – but just a bit more extreme.  Either way, it’s pretty entertaining.

Son of a Bitch Sea Lion Steals Fish

Seriously – a sea lion?  Sure everyone has had a fish or two get away, but this dude was about to reel in a decent size fish that a sea lion decided to make it his dinner.  You got to love the guys reaction – “You Son of a Bitch”, while the other guy almost gets pulled into the water as he is trying to spare his fishing pole from being taken under by the sea lion.  Probably not what these guys were expecting when they woke up that morning to go fishing.

Lacross Fights Are Weak

I thought lacrosse players were supposed to be intense.  Aside from the number of people involved in this melee – this shit was weak.  It looked like a bunch of guys holding hands the whole time.  I want to see some sticks being swung around.

Brett Favre is Really Good

You think the Vikings are glad they picked up Favre right before the season?  Drives them 80 yards down field with 87 seconds on the clcok, culminating with the touchdown pass that he threw 50 yards on a rope while about to get hit – just like Favre drew it up in his Wrangler jeans commercials.  As much credit as Favre is getting, you have to wonder what the 49ers were doing on defense – if they played a prevent defense there, that ball is probably intercepted.

Week 3 NFL Picks

andre smith

Off to a solid 10-3 start to the NFL season.  A bunch more good matchups in week 3 – picks are italicized.

1. Atlanta (+5) @ New England.  The Pats haven’t looked very good this year and are lucky to be at 1-1.  The Falcons on the other hand have played as advertised on offense, but their defense has stepped up and played pretty well so far.  This should be an fun game to watch with a lot of points.  If New England wins, the do no cover.

2.  Cleveland @ Baltimore (-14).  The Ravens D has not played as well as in previous years, but the offense led by Joe Flacco has made up for it.  The Browns have played horribly so far this year with Brady Quinn at quarterback, and it won’t get any easier for them this weekend.  The Ravens coming off a huge win last week in San Diego win this game huge.

3.  New York Giants (-7) @ Tampa Bay.  The Giants come into this game banged up on defense, but the offense has surprisingly looked really good on offense.  Tampa Bay has lost 6 straightt going back to last season, and their defense is nowhere near as good as it has been in the past.   There will probably be a lot of points put up by both sides in this game, but the Giants will cover.

4. New Orleans @ Buffalo Over – 52.  Both these teams put up a bunch of points in the first two games, and expect more of the same in this one.  We could be looking at 60 to 70 points in this one.

5. Pittsburgh (-4) @ Cincinnati.  The Bengals defense has been solid thus far, and Cedric Benson has been a pleasant surprise.  But Pittsburgh is always be a safe bet, and will be looking to get back on track after the lost to the Bears last week.  The Steelers have beaten the Bengals 5 in a row and 10 of the last 11.  Expect more of the same in this one even without Polamalu.

6.  Indianapolis @ Arizona Over 48.  One of the most exciting games of the weekend with 2 of the best quarterbacks leading each team, and suspect defenses.  There will be points a plenty in this one, so go with the over.

7. Tennessee @ NY Jets (-3).  There may be cause for concern for a bit of a hangover after the huge win against the Pats last week amidst all the offseason comments made by new coach Rex Ryan.  But I like the Jets defense, and Mark Sanchez has played pretty well in his first two games.  the Titan’s D played poorly last week against the Texans, and Chris Johnson will need to have another big game if the Titans have any shot – although I don’t think the Jets will follow the Texan’s gameplan.  Expect another strong performance by the Jets and a victory.

Week 4 College Football Picks

gamecocks

Already one quarter of the way through the season, and we have had some great games and a handful of upsets so far.  South Carolina put on a great show on Thursday night beating an overrated Ole Miss team. I’m batting .500 so far this year at 11-11, so lets get some wins this weekend.  Winners are in italics.

1. South Florida @ FSU (-14).  You have to feel bad for Matt Grothe and South Florida – they wait this long to get a shot at the Seminoles, and lose Grothe with a torn ACL.  FSU surprised me last week with a huge win against BYU in Provo – even with Grothe in the lineup, South Florida would have a tough time in this game.  The Seminoles win this game big.

2. UNC @ Ga. Tech (-3).   This is a tough game to call.  It will be a revenge game for Tech who got blown out 28-7 last year at Chapel Hill.  UNC has a great front 7 and plays very well against the run, but I don’t think they have the offense to put points on the board against a solid Tech D.  Tech had a long week to perpare after last Thursday night’s loss to the U – which is why they cover.

3. Miami (-3) @ Va Tech.   I am not going to say The U is back just yet – but they have looked really good so far in their two games.  The Hokies’ offense has looked horrible this year, and surprisingly the defense has given up a lot of yards on the ground.  There will be no last second comeback this week for the Hokies as Miami piles up a lot of yards and wins huge.

4. TCU (+3) @ Clemson.  This should be a fun game to watch if you like defense.  Clemson has had issues stopping  and TCU has played great defense so far.  CJ Spiller will need to have a big game if Clemson has a shot.  But in the end, the TCU defense steps up and they pull off the upset.

5. Arkansas @ Alabama(-17.5).  This game will either be 40-10 or 40-30.  The Razorback D played horribly last week against UGA, but were able to keep it close thanks to Ryan Mallett.  Greg McElroy has been better than advertised, and the Tide’s running game has been has been incredible.   I see the Tide defense forcing some turnovers and shutting down the Razorbacks, and the offense will be able to put up big numbers.

6.  Arizona St. @ UGA (-12.5).  The Bulldogs have looked impressive on offense the last two weeks.  But as good as the offense has been, the defense has looked just as bad.  The Sun Devils are 2-0 and had an extra weekend to prepare for this game, but being a night game in Athens and the defense needing to prove something, I see a the Bulldogs blowing out the visitors.

7. Washington (+8) @ Stanford.  The Huskies play their first road game of the year after the huge win against USC last week.  Stanford comes into this with a matching 2-1 record and could have been 3-0.  I think the Huskies get off to a slow start and have a bit of a hangover from last week.  If Stanford wins, it will be a close game coming down to the last possesion.

Your Business Card is Crap

Everyone knows the true foundation for a successful business is strong business card.  No wonder I can’t get ahead in life, my business cards are stuck in some rolodex collecting dust.  Plus, just think how many more lunches I could be winning if I dropped a cutting edge business card in the free lunch fishbowls.

ESPN’s College Football Primetime Crew Make Fun of Clemson Fan

That kid must have lost a lot of money on that game, because people don’t get this upset over Clemson football right?  And you have to appreciate Chris Fowler’s solid post game analysis.

Maybe the Texans Should Have Defended Chris Johnson

You’d think the Texans would have someone covering one of the fastest guys in the NFL, especially after ripping off a 57-yard touchdown run earlier in the game.  Johnson lined up as the only receiver on the near side unguarded.  The Texans thought about sending a defender his way, but decided to overload the far side.  But in their defense, a lot of the Texan players probably had Johnson on their fantasy league team and wanted him to rack up the points.

Chad Ochocinco Does the Lambeau Leap

So the big question here is how did Bengals fans get front row seats at Lambeau – don’t people wait years to get tickets?
